Big, WILD and Beautiful

Justin Crump had a pretty good weekend on this "Secret River" which according to him is located someplace in the Florida Keys.  39.5" x 21", so using the “Keelin Estimator”  that's a whopping 26 pounds of steel.  K8 did pretty well too and you check her fish HERE.

Brian Gregson just submitted this SOTM AZ rainbow that he taped at 27"x 16".  Whodathunk Arizona would cook up such a nice slice of trout?  Kick ass photos courtesy of Corey Kruitbosch.

12 miles into its journey, this slab was disrupted by Chummist, Chris Thompson.  The Eastern Chum contingent continues to deliver a December bitch slap to us Western steel seekers.

This little guy must have been lost: UPDATE: Nov. Winner

I'm still relatively young.  At 37 (with the physique of at least a 35 year old), I've yet to start thinking about adult diapers.  After this pic, sent by local Chum loyalist and Steelhead Sensei - Steelie Mike, I'm going to change my tune.  Sam Sickles, modern day legend from Hood River, was the jedi at the end of the stick.

Those who bless us with frequent readership and have the opportunity to see some of the Steel we highlight should agree that this is a fish that deserves a hurculean amount of RESPECK.  What isn't obvious however, is that this beast came from the a flow near the Columbia Gorge.  Take it from us who live vicariously through many a steelhead bum - this is a feat that doesn't grow on trees.

More on this can be found at STEEL - The daily ramblings of a steelhead addict who fishes the fly.

Update: Sam "big stick" Sickles wins November in a landslide.  Schwag is on the way Mr. Sickles.

Flyling: October Winner!

It's officially retarded.  This month's contest has hit unprecedented heights with this Yakutat Ling caught by Nate Catterson.  Insane.

UPDATE: Because the Taimen were all so similarly huge, and the steelhead was submitted by a third party, we're gonna have to give the October bounty to Catterson.  Glareproof Lid a copy of FISHIZZLE is on the way.

It's raining slabs

Chum junkie, Brian Wise, takes a day off the sticks and gets a chance to fish himself.  And, this North Fork of the White River brown reminded him of what he's been personally missing.
