Eleven teams representing six nations will compete in the inaugural America Cup fly-fishing competition Wednesday through Friday in the Blue, Colorado and Arkansas river drainages.

A Treasured Possession and Exceptional Fishing Tool

Chuck McGuire profiles his bond with his most prized possession, a J.E. Arguello "cane" fly rod.

In this materialistic society of self-indulgence and uncommon wealth, each of us has our own individual treasure. For some, it may be a large and lavish home, or high-priced automobile. For others, it’s an extraordinary work of art, or a collection of rare antiquities. Still others may cherish something as simple as an odd-shaped and colorful stone, or a prized doll passed down from a loved one. For me, it is a custom-built split-bamboo fishing tool ― a one-of-a-kind, unmatched anywhere in the world.

Fly Fisher IMAX film

I first heard about this project at last years FFR show and it's been profiled in their media partners mags but this is the first I've seen their web site.

Fly Fisher is the first giant-screen film ever produced and distributed on the subject of fishing.

The heart of the project is the 3D feature documentary premiering in IMAX theaters worldwide in 2006. In addition, Fly Fisher will be distributed in digital theaters, DVD and HD-DVD, HD prime-time telecast, companion books and guides, events, exhibits, broadband internet and interactive activities, and other related information, services, entertainment, transactional/database marketing, and educational products and services.

Slob Fishing - The Sport of Bums

After spending the day waving the fly rod on the Sky last weekend I actually toyed with the thought of busting out the Lamiglas.

My fly-fishing friends are tolerating this ghastly lapse (barely) because they assume that I'll eventually grow up and join them in the manly, ethical art of fly fishing. Which I will, eventually, but my dirty secret is that whatever happens, I'm going to keep up with my Slob-Fishing studies on the side.    VIA Slate  LINK

Shark fisherman can catch makos on the fly

Try to subdue a 250-pounder on a fly rod from an open kayak shorter than the fish, and you have yet another episode in the strange and wonderful deep-sea adventures of Conway Bowman.

Maybe to many Kaliks?

The comic relief came with all “the missed fish.” Rathbun laughed and shook his head after missing three in a row from the flats boat. “This is just unacceptable,” he said. “I am going to sit down now.” LINK

Fly Fishing and the Gospel

According to S.B.G. (Short Bald Guide)

Perhaps you have only recently received the call to become a fly fisher- BUT- you feel unworthy. Brothers and Sisters- GOD HAS ENOUGH MERCY FOR ALL OF US! Use the gifts that God has for each of us and REPENT of worm-dunking and bass fishing (actually, you can get a special dispensation for fly fishing for bass, but that will be covered later).
