Transporting juvenile salmon hinders adult migration

Juvenile salmon that are transported downstream on boats can lose the ability to migrate back to their breeding grounds, reducing their survivorship and altering adaptations in the wild.  LINK  (Via: Science Codex)

This study is yet another reason for removing the dams to save our wild salmon. Yet, it is very frustrating that "dam removal" is not one of the options listed in the article. It should be, as there are several examples where dam removal has saved/restored a wild salmon population.
