One of my favorite books of all time. Much more than 'into the wild' and even 'a river runs through it,' 'the river why' is cerebral and introspective. Ever since I read the book over 15 years ago I wondered whether it could be made into a good movie. I am convinced that the movie simply cannot do the book justice. It is possible that it may stand on its own as a successful movie but it cannot accurately convey the same meaning, much less story, as the book.

Not to mention the my regret of the inevitable log jam of fly-fisherman the movie will encourage, much like 'a river runs through it.'
