When I was a kid, my grandfather would take me out fishing for halibut. We would set nets for herring as bait and then bait a line of hooks attached to bouys overnight. One time we went out to check the lines and there was a huge halibut (Kveite in Norwegian) on the line. We were in a small motorboat and once my grandfather wrestled it to the surface and bonked it on the head we could see that it was almost the size of the boat. He had to gaff it and hold on to it while I steered the boat to shore. Eventiually we got it ashore and hoisted it up to see what it weighed. (185kilos or 407 lbs). Needless to say it tasted like crap.
